Kaduna Police Rescue Kidnap Victims, Arrest Suspects
The Kaduna State Police Command announced the rescue of three individuals who had been kidnapped for over 40 days. Authorities also apprehended five suspected informants linked to a local kidnapping syndicate.
The operation, which took place recently, involved a coordinated effort by officers from the Fushin Kada Division and the Divisional Police Officer in Hunkuyi, according to a statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan.
Police reported that the security team tracked the suspects to a suspected bandits’ hideout. Upon the arrival of security forces, the kidnappers fled, leaving the victims behind. The statement confirmed that the victims were rescued unharmed.
The rescued individuals were identified as Ekechikwu Omale, Ummi Salisu from Kudan Local Government Area, and Pastor Daniel Tanko Bawa from Tufa Village in Niger State. Following their rescue, the victims were taken to a police medical facility for examination and treatment before being reunited with their families.
In addition to the rescue, five suspected informants were arrested. Authorities allege these individuals provided information and resources to the kidnappers. Preliminary investigations suggest that they played significant roles in facilitating the abduction; ongoing interrogations are expected to yield further insights.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad commended the officers for their professionalism and inter-agency collaboration in conducting the operation. He emphasized the police command’s commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes throughout the state.
