Gunmen Attack Kaduna Village, Killing at Least 30

KADUNA, Nigeria — A large group of gunmen attacked Naridon village in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area, on Sunday night, resulting in the deaths of approximately 30 individuals.

While police officials have not yet released a statement, local residents and relatives of the victims provided accounts of the tragic event. One source reported that at least 30 people have been confirmed dead, with many others unaccounted for as residents fled to escape the violence. Several individuals sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at nearby medical facilities.

The attack also caused significant property damage, including the destruction of multiple homes and assets valued in the millions of Naira.

The source described the event as a devastating reminder of the ongoing insecurity plaguing vulnerable communities in Kauru LGA and other areas of Kaduna State. There are fears that the death toll may rise as residents continue to assess the aftermath of the incident.

In light of the violence, the source urged both the Kaduna State and Federal Governments, along with security agencies, to enhance security measures in affected areas. He emphasized the need to restore normalcy so that residents could return to their farming activities and called for justice against those responsible for the attack.

Attempts to reach DSP Mansir Hassan, spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, for confirmation of the incident were unsuccessful.
