Former Khana Chief Security Officer Shot Dead

BORI, Rivers State – Letam Kine, a former Chief Security Officer of the Khana Local Government Area, was shot and killed on Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. along Polytechnic Road in Bori.

ASP Blessing Agabe, spokesperson for the Rivers State Police, confirmed the details of the incident to reporters in Port Harcourt on Monday. According to Agabe, the assailants fled the scene prior to the arrival of security personnel.

Authorities have since moved Kine’s body to a mortuary, where it will be preserved pending an autopsy. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

“The Rivers State Police Command has initiated a full investigation to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice,” Agabe stated. She urged Kine’s family to file a formal report with the police to assist in the investigation and emphasized the command’s commitment to prosecuting those involved in the homicide.

Khana Local Government Chairman, Chief Thomas Bariere, condemned the act, labeling it a senseless expression of violence. He described Kine’s murder as a heartbreaking event and voiced concern over rising violence, noting that this incident follows the recent murder of Clement Deegbara from Kpong Community.

Bariere called for community unity in addressing issues of security and violence in the area.
