Delta State Security Forces Arrest Five Suspected Vandals

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Delta State Command has apprehended five individuals suspected of operating a vandalism syndicate in Kwale, Delta State.

In a statement released by the command’s public relations unit, the arrests represent a significant advancement in ongoing efforts to combat the vandalization of critical national assets within the state.

According to the press release, the NSCDC conducted a targeted operation based on credible intelligence, collaborating with the Utagba Ogbe Vigilante Group.

The suspects are accused of vandalizing electricity power line cables and other essential power infrastructure. The command has secured the recovered evidence and is continuing its investigations to identify and apprehend additional members of the syndicate, including those involved in receiving and trading the stolen items.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspects may have engaged in the possession, purchase, and sale of stolen electricity cables, actions characterized as economic sabotage that threaten public infrastructure and the nation’s electricity supply.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Mbube Godwin Anioh, 20; Ekeanys Onyemechinyi, 19; Muhammadu Atamnu, 37; Chibuke Anah Ehiya, 20; and Nworomu Ekpede, 17.

The command has pledged to prosecute all suspects found guilty in accordance with the law following the completion of the investigations.
