President Tinubu Pledges Commitment to National Security and Economic Relief
President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s determination to combat terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminal intimidation during a National Inter-Denominational Church Service in Abuja on Sunday. This event, part of the 2026 Democracy Day celebrations, was attended by notable figures including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Okezie Kalu.
Tinubu’s message was delivered by George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation. In his remarks, Akume congratulated Nigerians on 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance since 1999, highlighting the resilience and sacrifices of those who fought for democracy.
He acknowledged the ongoing challenges facing the country, including economic hardship, insecurity, and the distress caused by kidnappings and community displacements. “The government is sensitive to all these pains, shares in these pains, and has heard your cries,” Akume stated, emphasizing Tinubu’s compassionate approach to governance.
Addressing security issues, the president described recent incidents of violence and abduction as stark reminders of the work that remains. He assured citizens that the safe return of all individuals in captivity is a national priority. “The government of Nigeria shall never succumb to terror, banditry, or any form of criminal intimidation,” he asserted.
Tinubu also indicated that security agencies would receive necessary resources to safeguard lives and maintain the country’s territorial integrity, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to addressing these pressing challenges.
