NWFL playoff: Why Rivers Angels lost to Abia Angels – Blankson

Abia Angels Tops Rivers Angels in NWFL Showdown
PORT HARCOURT — Rivers Angels fell to Abia Angels 1-0 in a closely contested match on Monday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, marking the second fixture of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).
The decisive moment of the match came in the 26th minute when Abia’s Winner David found the net with a well-placed header.
Following the loss, Rivers Angels head coach Tosan Blankson expressed disappointment, citing missed opportunities as a key factor in the defeat.
“Sometimes football is cruel. The girls put in the effort but failed to capitalize on their chances,” Blankson said in a post-match interview. “It’s a tough day for us, as our strikers had enough opportunities but could not convert.”
With the result, Rivers Angels currently hold the fourth position on the playoff table, accumulating three points from two matches.
