A total of 492 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been officially sworn in for the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation exercise in Kebbi State. The ceremony took place at the temporary NYSC orientation camp located in Bausaura, Jega Local Government Area.
Governor Nasir Idris, represented by the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Nurudeen Bala-Fingilla, emphasized his commitment to enhancing the welfare and security of the corps members throughout their service year. He highlighted the importance of the NYSC scheme as a platform for fostering national unity and promoting development across Nigeria.
Idris noted the significant contributions that corps members have made in various sectors, including education, healthcare, and agriculture, as well as in environmental sanitation and community development within Kebbi State.
The governor encouraged the corps members to actively engage in all camp activities, framing the orientation as an opportunity to cultivate discipline, teamwork, leadership skills, and a spirit of selfless service. He also urged them to participate in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, pointing out that practical skills are crucial for wealth creation and self-reliance amid limited government job openings.
Prior to the governor’s address, NYSC State Coordinator Bala Dabo Kagarko reported that the cohort consists of 307 males and 185 females. He urged the new corps members to adhere to camp rules and regulations and to maintain law-abiding behavior throughout their service year.
