Transfer: Rashford returns to Man Utd as Barcelona’s €30m buy option officially expires

Marcus Rashford Returns to Manchester United Following Loan Expiration

Marcus Rashford has officially returned to Manchester United after the option for FC Barcelona to sign him permanently expired. The loan agreement that allowed Rashford to spend time with the LaLiga club has now concluded.

The original contract included a clause that would have permitted Barcelona to secure Rashford’s services for a fee of €30 million. This arrangement was designed to be financially manageable for Barcelona, with the total fee structured into three installments of €10 million each, extending through 2028. The agreement was set to last for two seasons, ending in June 2026.

However, the deadline for Barcelona to exercise this purchase option passed on June 15 without the club taking action.

Currently participating in the 2026 World Cup, Rashford is anticipated to return to Manchester United and begin pre-season training under head coach Michael Carrick.
