Police Arrest 25 Suspects in Drug Raid in Jos
The Plateau State Police Command announced the arrest of 25 individuals during a targeted operation aimed at addressing drug-related activities in Jos, the state capital.
The raid, which took place on Saturday evening at approximately 7:55 p.m., focused on the Old Airport Junction and Fwavei Junction areas, identified by authorities as hubs for the sale and distribution of illegal drugs.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Alfred Alabo, the operation was executed by a joint security team from the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU), with assistance from various units, including the Anglo-Jos Division, Anti-Cybercrime and Narcotic Unit, Monitoring Unit, and the Eagle Eye Patrol Team.
During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered cannabis and other controlled substances from the suspects.
“The exercise was successful, and a number of illicit substances were seized from the suspects,” stated Alabo.
The police command indicated that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the suspects’ roles and to identify potential connections with broader criminal networks.
Commissioner of Police CP Bassey Ewah commended the officers involved for their commitment to combating drug-related crimes within the state.
