Bauchi State Police Arrest Three Suspects in Homicide Case

The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended three individuals in connection with an alleged murder and robbery in Gwaram Town, located in the Alkaleri Local Government Area. Authorities recovered a motorcycle believed to belong to the deceased during the operation.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib disclosed that officers from the Alkaleri Division arrested one suspect, identified as 25-year-old Alhaji Muhammad Umar, also known as “Jijji,” on June 19, 2026. He was reportedly found with the victim’s motorcycle.

The police investigation was prompted by a report filed on March 7, 2026, regarding a case of culpable homicide and suspected armed robbery in the community. Following his arrest, Umar allegedly identified two additional suspects: Usman M. Gidado, 45, and 35-year-old Danladi Yakubu, also referred to as “Pagaj.” Both are residents of Gwaram Town.

“Acting on the report made at Alkaleri Division on March 7, 2026, one of the suspects, Alhaji Muhammad Umar, was arrested on June 19 while in possession of the motorcycle belonging to the deceased,” the police statement indicated. It further noted that a follow-up operation was conducted, leading to the apprehension of the other two suspects and the recovery of the motorcycle as evidence.

All three suspects, along with the recovered exhibit, have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation. Following this, they are expected to be charged in court.

Commissioner of Police CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu commended the operatives for their efforts and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to addressing violent crimes. “The Command remains resolute in its commitment to fighting violent crime and ensuring justice for victims at all times,” he stated.
