We are not part of their fundraising, new platform – League of Imams, Alfas declares

League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland Rejects Formation of New Group
The League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland has issued a statement distancing itself from the proposed establishment of a rival organization in the region.
In a news release dated Wednesday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, the league characterized the initiative by certain individuals and groups as an attempt to mislead the public. The statement was signed by Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere, the League’s President and Chief Imam of Ekiti State.
The league highlighted that it has become aware of efforts to organize fundraising and launch events for a new league of Imams and Alfas. According to the statement, the League of Imams and Alfas was founded in 1964 by Sheikh Adam Abdullahi Al-Ilory and esteemed figures from the old Western Region of Nigeria.
The league firmly asserted that it has no association with the fundraising activities or launches being organized by these individuals or groups.
“The League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland is the foremost Islamic body in South-West Nigeria and remains dedicated to fostering harmony, cooperation, and Islamic brotherhood among Muslims,” the statement noted.
Moreover, the league condemned any attempts to exploit its name and reputation for personal or organizational gain, stating that such actions could cause confusion and disunity within the Muslim community.
