Troost-Ekong Discusses Nwabali’s Situation as Super Eagles Goalkeeper
Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong addressed the recent developments surrounding Stanley Nwabali’s position as the team’s number one goalkeeper.
Since Nwabali’s contract with Chippa United was terminated, he has not received an invitation from national team head coach Eric Chelle. Troost-Ekong suggested that this may be influencing Chelle’s decision to select Maduka Okoye for recent matches.
“I can’t speak for Stanley, but given the current circumstances, it might have been wiser for him to stay with Chippa,” Troost-Ekong stated. He acknowledged that his perspective is based on outside observations, as the details of Nwabali’s situation with the club are not publicly known.
As of now, Nwabali remains without a club but is hopeful to secure a position with a new team this summer.
