Governor Fubara Visits Site of Collapsed Building in Port Harcourt
PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria — Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State visited the site of a collapsed four-storey building in the state capital on Thursday. The governor’s inspection aimed to assess the situation and monitor ongoing rescue operations.
During his visit, Fubara praised emergency responders and rescue teams for their dedication in their search for victims trapped beneath the debris.
“The building approval was granted by a federal agency,” Fubara noted, clarifying that the Rivers State Government was not involved in the approval process.
The governor extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for those injured in the incident.
The building, which was under construction in the Peter Odili axis of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, collapsed on Wednesday, trapping several individuals. This incident occurred just 48 hours after another three-storey building collapsed in the Rumuolumeni area of the city. Rescue efforts continue at both sites.
