Tinubu has people around who can’t tell him when he’s wrong – Ndume

Borno South Senator Ali Ndume has raised concerns about President Bola Tinubu, suggesting that the advisers surrounding him may not provide honest feedback when he is making mistakes.

In an interview with Trust TV on Friday, Ndume stated that he has met President Tinubu only twice since the latter took office in 2023. He expressed apprehension regarding the dynamics of the president’s inner circle, asserting that many of Tinubu’s aides are financially reliant on him, which could hinder their ability to speak candidly.

“The president knows me to some extent,” Ndume said. “I give him credit for the significant challenges he faces. However, I believe his difficulties stem from the people around him.”

Ndume claimed that approximately 95% of those close to the president were already dependent on him even before his election. “He has been supporting them, which presents a challenge for his administration,” Ndume continued. “When those around you depend on you, they may struggle to communicate honestly about what is feasible and what is not.”
