Yobe State Police Command successfully rescued four teenage girls who were abducted in Fika Local Government Area on June 28, 2026. The operation involved coordinated efforts by police officers and local vigilantes.
According to police spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the incident began when the Fika Divisional Headquarters received a distress call regarding an attack by unidentified armed individuals in Didim Village. The victims, all minors aged between 15 and 17 years, were reported missing following the attack.
In response, operatives from the Kukar Hadu Police Outstation, alongside local vigilantes and reinforcements from the Fika Divisional Headquarters, initiated a rescue operation that resulted in the safe recovery of all four girls.
The rescued individuals were transported to the Kukar Hadu Primary Healthcare Centre for medical evaluations and necessary support before being reunited with their families.
The police have stated that efforts to apprehend the members of the criminal syndicate responsible for the abduction are ongoing. Security operations in the area have been intensified to ensure the suspects are brought to justice.
Yobe State Commissioner of Police CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin has called for sustained intelligence-led operations to capture the fleeing suspects and ensure accountability for their actions.
