Three Nigerians arrested in India over alleged drug trafficking network
Three Nigerian Nationals Arrested in Major Drug Trafficking Operation in India
Indian authorities have arrested three Nigerian nationals for their alleged roles in a significant international drug trafficking operation. The arrests were made after operatives from the Anti-Narcotic Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) seized narcotics valued at approximately ₹23 crore.
The suspects, identified as Ambemo Victor, 37, Chime Moses, 36, and Karikari Ames, 33, were apprehended in separate operations within the country, according to reports from The New Indian Express. Investigations suggest that the individuals entered India on medical and tourist visas before becoming involved in the drug trade.
Police acted on intelligence reports that directed them to a residence in the Madanayakanahalli police jurisdiction. During the operation, authorities recovered 10.27 kilograms of MDMA crystals and 2.044 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis.
Investigators believe that the narcotics were procured from another Nigerian national believed to be operating out of Delhi.
“The Anti-Narcotic Wing of the CCB arrested four individuals, including three Nigerian nationals, in connection with two drug trafficking cases in the city,” the report stated. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects entered India legally before engaging in drug distribution.
This incident follows the recent detention of four Nigerian nationals by Indian law enforcement on separate allegations of fraud and identity-related offenses. In May, police in Gurugram arrested three men for allegedly running an online scam in which they impersonated women on social media to defraud victims.
In another case, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force arrested a different Nigerian national, identified as Uchenwa, 49, over alleged cybercrime-related offenses, during which authorities recovered 19 mobile phones, a laptop, and 18 SIM cards linked to both Indian and international networks.
