Poor leadership, corruption holding Nigeria back – Buhari’s ex-spokesman, Adesina

Former Presidential Adviser Critiques Nigeria’s Leadership and Corruption

Femi Adesina, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, addressed pressing issues facing Nigeria, attributing the nation’s stagnation to poor leadership and corruption.

Speaking at an annual public lecture hosted by the Foursquare Gospel Church in the Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State on Thursday, Adesina emphasized Nigeria’s potential. He remarked, “Nigeria has everything needed to move forward, including a large youthful population, rich natural resources, fertile land, and a favorable geographical location.”

He lamented that despite these assets, the country is hindered by ineffective governance. “Poor leadership and corruption are holding Nigeria back,” he said. “While Nigeria is endowed with both human and natural resources, it has unfortunately not translated to wealth.”

Adesina highlighted the frustrations faced by many young Nigerians, citing the lack of job opportunities and diminished quality of life. He urged current leaders to fulfill the promises made by their predecessors, calling for action that would allow citizens to reap the benefits of the country’s resources.
