2027: If they deceive you once, don’t allow them deceive you twice – Apostle Okoriko

Cleric Urges Caution Against Repeat Politicians Ahead of Elections

Ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, Apostle John Okoriko, founder of the Solid Rock Kingdom Church, has urged citizens to be wary of politicians who fail to deliver on their campaign promises during their first term in office.

During a monthly interactive session on Sunday, themed “Let God be True and Every Man a Liar,” Okoriko emphasized the need for accountability among politicians. He did not specify any individuals but remarked, “If someone deceives you once, don’t give that person the opportunity to deceive you twice. Circumstances and human nature are built on lies, and those lies cannot endure.”

Okoriko lamented that dishonesty has infiltrated various sectors, including business, health, politics, and religion, asserting that only a true understanding of Christ can lead individuals to rise above deception.

He criticized political leaders for misleading voters with promises to improve the economy, create jobs, and enhance infrastructure, stating that little is accomplished once they assume office. “This applies not only to politicians but to religious leaders as well,” he added. “If you have misled anyone or failed to keep a promise, it is important to acknowledge that failure and work towards fulfilling your commitments.”

The cleric called for the church to play a pivotal role in correcting the issues of deceit that pervade religion, politics, business, and personal relationships.

He traced the roots of dishonesty to historical empires, including those of Egypt, Greece, Medo-Persia, Assyria, and Rome, asserting that these civilizations were founded on falsehoods and ultimately collapsed. Okoriko stressed that any organization—whether political or commercial—built on lies is destined to fail.
