Troops capture 12 suspected Boko Haram collaborators in Borno
Military Operation in Borno State Leads to Arrest of 12 Suspected Boko Haram Affiliates
Abuja, Nigeria — Troops participating in Operation Hadin Kai apprehended 12 individuals suspected of collaborating with Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a targeted intelligence operation conducted in Damasak, Borno State.
The Nigerian Army reported the arrests in a military operational update released on Monday. The operation was initiated based on actionable intelligence retrieved from an earlier suspect detained at the Kadauri cattle market in Damasak.
According to the Army, the initial suspect provided information that identified key meeting points and hiding places utilized by terrorist collaborators and logistical suppliers in the area. Prompted by this intelligence, military personnel conducted coordinated cordon-and-search missions across various locations, ultimately leading to the detention of the 12 suspects.
During the operation, troops recovered four mobile devices—comprising three Tecno smartphones, one Itel phone, and one Infinix device—as well as a total of 7,360 naira in cash.
The arrested individuals are currently undergoing preliminary processing before being transferred to the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre in Maiduguri for further investigation and profiling.
The military characterized the operation as a significant advancement in efforts to dismantle the support structures for terrorist activities and disrupt the logistics networks that facilitate insurgent operations. The Army stated that it will continue to carry out intelligence-driven operations to identify and arrest additional collaborators linked to these networks.
