Gunmen shoot one, abduct two in Ogun
Armed Men Abduct Two Residents, Injure One in Ogun State
KOBAPE, Ogun State — Armed individuals, believed to be kidnappers, shot one man and abducted two others in the Kobape area of Obafemi Owode Local Government Area on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. when Al-haqq Shobakin went to open the gate for Olayinka Obadimu, who was leaving the premises. As Shobakin opened the gate, the assailants attacked, firing shots in the process. Obadimu managed to escape by quickly driving away, but Shobakin sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.
After the shooting, the kidnappers entered the residence and abducted two other individuals, identified as Kelvin Moyegun and Kehinde Rufai.
Shobakin is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit of a private hospital in Abeokuta.
The Ogun State Police confirmed the incident on Friday through spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi. He stated that police operatives have been deployed to locate and rescue the abducted individuals, as well as to apprehend the assailants.
“I can confirm that there was an abduction, and one person is currently in the hospital receiving medical care,” Babaseyi said. “The command has deployed its operatives to rescue those who were abducted and also arrest the perpetrators.”
