Yobe State Police Arrest 63 in Drug and Weapons Raid
The Yobe State Police Command apprehended 63 individuals and seized illegal drugs and dangerous weapons during a recent operation in Damaturu.
In a statement released on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Dungus Abdulkarim detailed the raid that took place on July 12, 2026. The operation, led by the Area Commander of the Damaturu Area Command, sought to target known criminal hideouts within the state capital as part of an ongoing effort against illicit drug trafficking and substance abuse.
Police units from ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ Divisions were deployed to areas including Mass Transit, Family Support, Zango CMC, Finance, Nayinawa Primary School, Jerusalem Ajayi, Moduri, and Sunday Market. During the operation, authorities arrested 63 suspects, including eight women.
Recovered items included Tramadol tablets, Valium-5 tablets, nine Pentazocine injections, and various liquid substances. Additionally, weapons such as axes were confiscated.
The arrested individuals are undergoing investigations, and those found guilty will face legal charges.
Commissioner of Police Usman Kanfani Jibrin emphasized the command’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and other criminal activities statewide. He urged officers to maintain their efforts and called on the public for support.
“See something, say something. Report suspicions,” he advised.
