Police probe murder of farmer in Kwara

Kwara Police Investigate Farmer’s Murder

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, has initiated a thorough investigation into the murder of a farmer, Azeez Garba. His body was discovered on his farmland along the Owa-Onire axis, which marks the border between Isanlu-Isin and Owu-Isin in the Isin Local Government Area.

Garba’s daughter, Abdulazeez Rofiat, raised the alarm regarding her father’s disappearance from the farm and has called for justice in the wake of his tragic death.

The police commissioner condemned the murder as “cruel” and “unacceptable.” He instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to deploy all available resources to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

According to police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, preliminary investigations indicate that Garba went to his farm in the morning but did not return home. Family members and local vigilantes began searching for him when he failed to arrive. His motorcycle was found parked near the farm, and his body was later discovered nearby, bearing deep machete wounds.

“As of this release, no arrests have been made,” Adeyemi stated. “However, we assure the bereaved family, the residents of Isin Local Government Area, and the public that every lead is being diligently pursued.”

Investigators are working tirelessly to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident and to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. The Kwara State Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the state and vowed to continue its efforts until those involved in this act are apprehended.
