The Nigerian Senate has approved a donation of N50 million to assist the families of five individuals who lost their lives during a recent abduction incident in the Oriire local government area of Oyo State.

During a plenary session on Wednesday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the financial support, emphasizing the profound loss experienced by the nation in its ongoing battle against insecurity. He characterized the deaths as a “painful sacrifice.”

Akpabio commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for their successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers, who were held captive for nearly two months.

The approved funds will allocate N10 million to the families of two teachers who were killed by the abductors, as well as to the families of three soldiers who died during the rescue operation.
