Gombe Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robber

The Gombe State Police Command announced the arrest of a suspect, Micah Nuhu, in connection with an armed robbery incident involving a woman identified as Mama Kingsley Joseph. Nuhu allegedly attacked Joseph with a pestle and stole her purse, which has since been recovered.

In a statement, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, reported that Joseph received medical treatment at Cottage Hospital in Bambam. The case has been forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry.

“The State Criminal Investigation Department is actively investigating the case, and efforts are underway to apprehend Nuhu’s accomplice, identified as Mubarak,” Abdullahi stated.

In a separate operation, police arrested two men, Nasiru Aminu, 40, and Jamiu Muhammad, 33, at a suspected criminal hideout in the Tumfure area of Akko Local Government Area.

“The suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain their involvement in additional criminal activities,” the statement noted.

Additionally, the police recovered a Toyota Yaris believed to be stolen after the vehicle’s owner, Sani Ahmed, was attacked. Abdullahi reported that the assailants stabbed Ahmed and forced him out of the vehicle near the Tumu-Kashere Junction before fleeing the scene.

“The victim was taken to a specialist hospital for treatment. The abandoned vehicle was later recovered near the Army Barracks and secured at the police station. The State Criminal Investigation Department has initiated an investigation into this incident,” he added.

The police command reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents, urging the public to provide any useful information to assist ongoing security efforts.
