Boko Haram Logistics Supplier Arrested in Borno State
Troops participating in Operation HADIN KAI apprehended a suspect believed to be supplying logistics to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists. The arrest took place during an intelligence-led operation in Gubio Local Government Area, Borno State.
Security expert Zagazola Makama shared details of the operation in a statement on X, noting that it occurred around 3:00 p.m. on July 15. The 149 Battalion, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), executed the operation based on credible human intelligence.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Ali Umar, was reportedly intercepted while engaged in logistics activities near the Binduldul–Kareto area. Authorities recovered a Volkswagen Golf vehicle, registration number BO KGG 268AA, and a Tecno mobile phone from him.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that Umar allegedly confessed to providing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters operating within the region.
Umar remains in custody of the 149 Battalion for further investigation and appropriate actions. This arrest is part of Operation HADIN KAI’s ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist logistics networks and disrupt supply chains that support insurgent activities in Northeast Nigeria.
