Katsina Security Forces Arrest Suspected Bandit
DANMUSA, Katsina State – Troops from the 17 Brigade apprehended a man suspected of involvement in banditry during a routine operation on July 15. The arrest took place around 3:14 p.m. in the Danmusa Local Government Area.
According to security sources, the suspect, identified as Lawal Sani, was detained after soldiers returning from a previous operation in Bakori made a brief stop in Yantumaki. During a search of Sani’s mobile phone, officers reportedly discovered a video of him handling an AK-47 rifle.
Upon this discovery, the suspect allegedly attempted to escape but was quickly subdued and taken into custody by the troops.
In addition to Sani, security personnel confiscated a motorcycle, two mobile phones—one Infinix and one Tecno—a color photocopy of a National Identity Card, a Moniepoint ATM card, an MTN SIM card, and cash totaling ₦5,020.
Sani is currently in military custody as investigations continue, which may lead to potential prosecution.
