Nigerian Swimmer Abduljabar Adama Advances to Semi-Finals at Commonwealth Games
GLASGOW — Abduljabar Adama of Team Nigeria has secured a spot in the men’s 50-meter freestyle semi-finals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, according to reports from DAILY POST.
Adama, the national record holder, posted a time of 22.67 seconds, finishing third in his heat. He trailed Australia’s Flynn Southam, who clocked 22.03 seconds, and England’s Jacob Mills, who recorded 22.40 seconds.
In contrast, his teammate Clinton Opute had a less favorable outcome, finishing sixth in his heat with a time of 23.15 seconds. Opute is currently positioned as the second reserve for the semi-finals in case any qualifiers withdraw.
Team Nigeria had a strong start at the Commonwealth Games, achieving a total of three gold medals and three silver medals on the opening day.
