Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, discussed the benefits he derived from his recent public disagreement with Nigerian artist Wizkid during an appearance on the television program “Your View.”

In the segment titled “Inside the Mind of Seun Anikulapo-Kuti,” the singer elaborated on how the controversy surrounding his online exchange with Wizkid brought significant attention to Fela Kuti’s legacy.

When prompted about the role of the social media personality VeryDarkMan in the fight for Nigeria’s liberation, Kuti suggested that the interviewers should confront VeryDarkMan directly for clarification. “He said he’s not political, that he’s doing charity, right?” Kuti stated.

In response to inquiries about his demeanor, Kuti defended himself against claims of arrogance, emphasizing that knowledge and authority are essential in discussions about his character. “I don’t think I’m arrogant because the authority is that of knowledge,” he said.

Kuti expressed that the dispute with Wizkid was productive. “I think it achieved a lot,” he remarked. “It doesn’t make sense to claim alignment with someone while actively working against their legacy.”
