Osun State Governor Declares Public Holiday for Voter Card Collection
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced that Tuesday, July 28, 2026, will be a public holiday to allow civil servants and other public workers to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the state’s upcoming governorship election.
The announcement was made in a statement released Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed. The decision aims to provide public servants adequate time to secure their PVCs before the conclusion of the voter card collection period.
The directive has been disseminated throughout the state’s public service, emphasizing that the holiday is intended to help workers meet their civic responsibilities as the governorship election approaches.
However, the statement highlighted that personnel in essential services, including healthcare and security, should coordinate with one another to ensure that critical services continue uninterrupted during the holiday.
Governor Adeleke also encouraged public servants and informal sector workers who have not yet collected their PVCs to do so promptly.
“The upcoming governorship election is crucial for the future of our state. I urge all eligible voters to take advantage of the public holiday to collect their permanent voter cards and prepare to exercise their right to vote,” he stated.
