Kalu Commends Tinubu’s Meeting with Catholic Bishops
Former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, who also serves as the Senator for Abia North, praised the recent meeting between President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN). Kalu described the meeting as a constructive step toward enhancing democracy and fostering national development.
In a statement, Kalu emphasized the necessity of sincere engagement between the government and established institutions as crucial to nation-building in a healthy democracy. He recognized the Catholic Church’s significant contributions to promoting justice, peace, moral values, and national unity.
Kalu acknowledged the considerable responsibilities faced by President Tinubu in navigating the nation’s economic and security challenges. He stated that open dialogue between the government and key stakeholders is vital for exchanging ideas, addressing national issues, and collaborating for the benefit of all Nigerians.
Furthermore, Kalu encouraged embracing constructive criticism in a spirit of goodwill while advocating for fair and objective assessments of the government’s efforts to confront the country’s challenges.
He underscored the importance of prioritizing unity and progress over division, regardless of political, religious, or ethnic affiliations.
“Our collective goal should not be division but progress,” Kalu said. “We must support every sincere effort that strengthens our democracy, improves the economy, enhances security, and instills hope among our people.”
The senator concluded by reinforcing the idea that nation-building is a shared responsibility and expressed optimism that Nigerians can collaborate to create a peaceful, prosperous, and united country.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us, and together we can build the peaceful, prosperous, and united nation we desire,” he stated.
