Tragedy as 15-year-old boy drowns in Dutse pond
Drowning Incident Claims Life of 15-Year-Old in Jigawa State
JIGAWA, Nigeria — The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has reported the drowning death of a 15-year-old boy, identified as Isah Muhammad. The tragic incident occurred at Sterling Pond, located along Disina Road in the Dutse Local Government Area.
ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, the command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the details in a statement to the media. According to Mahmud, the NSCDC received a distress call regarding the drowning and promptly dispatched personnel from the Takur Site Division to assist at the scene.
The incident took place on Tuesday around 4:30 p.m., as Isah Muhammad, a resident of Bokoto Quarters in Dutse, was reportedly swimming in the pond. Upon arrival, NSCDC officers retrieved the victim and transported him to the General Hospital in Dutse, where medical staff pronounced him dead.
Following the confirmation of his death, the NSCDC released the body to the family for burial, in accordance with Islamic customs.
Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, extended his condolences to the family, offering prayers for the deceased and support for the family during this difficult time.
