Katsina Police Arrest Son in Father’s Death
KATSINA, Nigeria — The Katsina State Police Command has detained a 27-year-old man, Sada Tambai, in connection with the death of his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai, in Bindawa Local Government Area.
The incident took place on September 21, 2026, in Mundadu Village, where Adamu Tambai, a former Ward Head, was discovered unconscious outside his home.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the details in a statement released Saturday. According to Aliyu, the Bindawa Police Division received a distress call around noon from the District Head of Bindawa, Dan Yusufan Katsina, reporting that the elderly man was found lying motionless in front of his residence.
Police detectives promptly responded and arrived at the village, where they arranged for the victim to be taken to a nearby hospital. However, medical personnel declared him dead upon arrival.
An investigation later led to the arrest of Sada Tambai, who allegedly confessed to striking his father on the head with a stick. Police stated that the injuries sustained from the alleged assault contributed to the elderly man’s death.
In light of the circumstances, Katsina Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, has directed that the case be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry. The suspect is expected to face court proceedings once the investigation concludes.
