Nigerian Army Recovers Suspected Explosive Device in Zamfara State

ZAMFARA, Nigeria — Troops from the Nigerian Army, working alongside the Nigeria Police Force’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, successfully recovered a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) in the Zurmi Local Government Area on August 7, 2026.

The operation commenced after local authorities reported an IED allegedly planted along a roadway in the Jabanda area of Zurmi. Military sources indicate that personnel from CSI Battalion VI/CT 2, part of the Joint Task Force North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, were deployed from Forward Operating Base Kaura Namoda to respond to the threat.

The security team, which included members of the EOD unit and the 1 Brigade Quick Reaction Force, located and neutralized the suspected explosive device along the identified route.

Following the successful clearance operation, the road was deemed safe for travel, allowing normal traffic flow to resume in the region.
