Oyo State Police Seizes Illicit Drugs in Ibadan
The Oyo State Police Command has reported the seizure of nine bags of Indian hemp and 101 wraps of dried leaves believed to be Canadian Loud. Additional illegal substances were also confiscated during the operation.
Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade issued a statement detailing the operation, which took place in Ibadan, the state capital, on Sunday. The drugs were discovered in a residence located along Abanise Street in the Academy area of Olomi.
According to Ayanlade, the apartment was under surveillance due to intelligence suggesting it was being used by a local resident, Oluwadamilare Adedayo, to stockpile illicit drugs. He stated, “Prompted by this intelligence, we conducted an operation that led to the recovery of a significant quantity of suspected illicit substances, thereby disrupting a suspected drug distribution network in the area.”
The seized items have been secured as evidence as the investigation continues. The police reaffirmed their commitment to combatting the use of illegal drugs in the state.
