Ogun State Police Arrest Suspected Vehicle Theft Kingpin
Operatives from the Mowe Division of the Ogun State Police Command arrested a suspected vehicle theft kingpin, Mosuru Issa, 28, and recovered a stolen Toyota Camry during a stop-and-search operation along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Friday at approximately 7:30 a.m.
During a routine check, police flagged down a wine-colored Camry. The three occupants of the vehicle abandoned it and fled on foot. Police operatives pursued the suspects, resulting in the apprehension of Issa while the other individuals escaped.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from Ojo, Lagos State, on September 7, 2026.
Babaseyi confirmed that efforts are underway to locate the vehicle’s owner and to apprehend the remaining accomplices. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further inquiry.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the officers for their vigilance and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing aimed at reducing vehicle theft and highway crimes. The police also urged residents to report any suspicious activity to their toll-free line and advised vehicle owners to utilize anti-theft devices when parking in public areas.
