Troops Rescue 33 Abducted Passengers in Zamfara State
Troops from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, operating under mission FANSAN YAMMA, in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Force, have successfully rescued 33 individuals abducted by terrorists in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation occurred on August 8, following credible intelligence that terrorists had seized commuters traveling through the Magazu area, according to a statement from Lt. Colonel Aliyu Danja, the media information officer for the Joint Task Force North West.
Upon receiving this information, security forces quickly mobilized to the area. Danja reported that they made contact with the perpetrators while the abductees were being moved to an undisclosed location.
“The troops engaged the terrorists with effective fire, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee into adjoining bushes,” he stated.
All 33 abducted individuals were secured and rescued without any reported casualties.
