Imo Strikers Queens Demand ₦15 Million from Osun Babes
Imo Strikers Queens Football Club has formally requested the payment of ₦15 million that they allege is owed by Osun Babes Football Club. The demand arises from a slot exchange agreement made between the two clubs.
In a petition dated August 7, 2026, the Imo-based women’s football team outlined their claim and addressed it to the management of Osun Babes. The petition was also sent to several authorities in Osun State, including the state governor, the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, the Chairman of the Osun State Sports Council, and the Chairman of the Osun State Football Association.
The club asserts that the disputed amount reflects an outstanding balance from their agreement with Osun Babes concerning the league slot exchange. They cite documentary evidence, particularly a letter allegedly issued by Osun Babes on December 22, 2025, which recognizes the debt. This letter, reportedly signed by the Team Manager, Akinbade O. Tope, indicated that Osun Babes was unable to settle the ₦15 million at the time.
Imo Strikers Queens contends that Osun Babes had committed to clearing the balance by the end of the first round of the 2025/2026 Premier League season but has since failed to fulfill that obligation.
The petition emphasizes that this situation is not simply a financial dispute, as the debt has been acknowledged in writing by Osun Babes. The Imo club claims that the ongoing non-payment has created significant financial challenges, affecting their responsibilities toward players, coaches, and officials. They also noted their engagement in grassroots and women’s football development, explaining that the outstanding amount has compounded their financial obligations.
In their petition, Imo Strikers Queens called for the immediate payment of the full ₦15 million and urged relevant state authorities and football administrators to intervene. They also requested that the Nigeria Women’s Football League and the Nigeria Football Federation be made aware of the ongoing dispute.
Furthermore, the club demanded that any proposed arrangements for settling the debt be communicated to them in writing. They have set a 14-day deadline for Osun Babes and the pertinent authorities to either pay the amount or propose an acceptable written settlement.
Failure to resolve the matter within that timeframe may lead Imo Strikers Queens to pursue regulatory and legal actions through appropriate football bodies and courts. They have expressed that previous attempts to resolve the situation amicably have been unsuccessful, prompting their current course of action.
Meanwhile, efforts to contact Ademola Daini, General Manager of the Osun State Sports Council and chairman of Osun Babes, were unsuccessful, as calls and messages remain unanswered.
