No casualties as LPG tanker overturns in Kano

No Casualties in LPG Tanker Accident on Zaria Road
The Kano State Fire Service has reported that there were no injuries or fatalities after an LPG tanker overturned on Zaria Road in the Kura Local Government Area.
The incident took place on Sunday in the Imawa area, a busy section of the road. According to a statement released on Monday by Assistant Chief Fire Officer Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the agency received an emergency call regarding the accident.
The alert was raised by Yusuf Musa Mazadu, a staff member of the Fire Service. “Our control room received a distress call reporting an overturned LPG tanker at Imawa along Zaria Road in Kura Local Government Area,” the statement said.
Firefighters from the agency’s headquarters were promptly dispatched to the scene to mitigate the risk of a fire. Upon arrival, they found the overturned tanker, bearing the registration number KMC 39 XG and owned by Ultimate Gas Company. Fortunately, the tanker did not ignite, and no injuries were reported.
“Our team quickly implemented safety measures and ensured the tanker was safely towed without any fire outbreak,” the statement added. The Fire Service emphasized that the situation was effectively controlled, averting a potential disaster due to the flammable contents of the tanker.
Preliminary investigations indicated that driver fatigue was a significant factor in the accident. “Initial findings revealed that the driver’s failure to rest adequately during the journey contributed to the incident,” the agency noted.
In light of the incident, the Kano State Fire Service has urged motorists, particularly those transporting flammable materials, to adhere to traffic regulations and drive responsibly. “We encourage drivers to ensure they are well-rested before embarking on long-distance journeys, as this is critical to safeguarding lives and property,” the statement concluded.
