Singer T.I Blaze Accuses Dapper Music of Mismanagement Over Unaccounted Royalties
Singer T.I Blaze has publicly accused music executive Dapper Music of failing to account for an estimated N1.2 billion in royalties and licensing fees related to artists’ intellectual property.
The allegations were made in a post on X, where T.I Blaze raised concerns about the management of music catalogs and royalty distributions tied to Dapper Music. He also questioned the involvement of Virgin Music, inquiring how the company justified its share of the revenue.
“How did Virgin Music get into a business where you’re supposed to take 30 percent and bounce? From whose cut is Virgin taking their bag? … how did 1.2 billion naira go unexplained? Dapper Music come and answer?” T.I Blaze wrote in his post.
The singer further accused Dapper Music of licensing another party’s intellectual property without mutual consent, suggesting that greed had led to a betrayal of those who contributed to generating the revenue.
“Who licenses another person’s intellectual property without mutual agreement? Dapper, your cup is finally full,” he stated.
T.I Blaze emphasized that those who played a significant role in earning the money had been let down.
“When you get so drunk on your dreams and can’t fight the spirit of greed, you’ll betray those that primarily made the Bag. You’ll be that colorful butterfly that goes back to being a caterpillar,” he added.
