Nigerian police arrest, repatriate Chadian, Mahadijiria Abdoulaye wanted for murder
Nigerian authorities have apprehended and repatriated Mahadijiria Abdoulaye, a Chadian national, who was wanted in connection with the alleged murder of Nazik Mahamat Saleh. The arrest took place on August 5, 2026, and was announced by the Nigeria Police Force through a statement from CSP Ani Iniedu, the police spokesperson.
According to the police statement, Saleh was reportedly tortured and killed on May 3, 2026. Following the incident, an international warrant for Abdoulaye’s arrest was issued by the Court of Appeal in N’Djamena on June 22. Abdoulaye is also suspected of being involved in narcotics trafficking operations in Chad.
The fugitive fled to Nigeria after the murder, but she was located and arrested at Railway Quarters in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State through coordinated intelligence operations.
On August 14, Abdoulaye was repatriated to N’Djamena via Lomé, Togo, following established bilateral policing agreements. The operation was conducted by INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau in Abuja, in coordination with their counterparts in N’Djamena, to facilitate her return for judicial proceedings.
Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu praised the INTERPOL NCB Abuja team for their professionalism and collaboration with Chad’s law enforcement. He emphasized that the arrest and repatriation reflect the Nigerian police’s dedication to preventing fugitives from evading justice across international borders.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to leveraging international policing channels to track down fugitives and disrupt transnational criminal networks, ensuring that individuals wanted for serious offenses cannot find refuge in Nigeria.
