Cooking gas update in Nigeria after Dangote, depot owners reduce LPG prices

Liquefied petroleum gas, commonly referred to as cooking gas, is set to become more affordable across Nigeria following a price revision by Dangote Refinery, as well as other marketers and depot owners.

A recent market survey conducted by DAILY POST revealed that Dangote Refinery has decreased its LPG gantry price by N30, bringing it down to N950 per kilogram.

In response to this adjustment, depot owners and marketers swiftly lowered their prices. Companies including 11PLC, formerly known as Mobil, NAVGAS, Ranoil, and PPMC have revised their ex-depot cooking gas prices to range between N955 and N960 per kilogram. The reductions from these depot owners vary, with decreases between N15 and N30 per kilogram.

According to DAILY POST, the retail prices of cooking gas at filling stations operated by Ranoil, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), and Shafa currently range from N1,300 to N1,450 per kilogram. Meanwhile, other retailers in Abuja and surrounding areas are selling cooking gas for N1,500 per kilogram, which mirrors the rates recorded in July 2026.

It is also noteworthy that imports of cooking gas surged by 1,400 percent in June, according to data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
