Oyo State Police Arrest Four in Cultism and Violent Attack Cases

The Oyo State Police Command has announced the arrest of four individuals linked to cult activities and a violent incident involving a commercial motorcyclist. A statement issued by Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade detailed the arrests, which include three suspects apprehended in Oyo and one in Ibadan.

Police conducted the operations with assistance from Agbekoya Vigilante personnel. The suspects are currently under interrogation and are expected to face charges following the completion of investigations.

According to the police statement, officers from the Atiba Division responded to credible intelligence regarding a suspected cult meeting at Bode Thomas Secondary School in Oyo. Upon arrival, officers observed approximately 30 individuals dressed in black, who fled the scene into nearby bushes.

The three suspects arrested at the location were identified as Jelili Taiwo Kazeem, 20; Toheeb Adediran, 25; and Ayomide Taiwo, 23. During the investigation, it emerged that Adediran, a commercial motorcycle driver, had transported some of the fleeing cult members to the site. His motorcycle has been confiscated for further investigation.

In a separate incident, the Oyo State Police arrested Saheed Eegunjobi, 38, in connection with an attack on a commercial motorcyclist in Ibadan. The arrest stemmed from collaborative efforts between the police and community partnerships, particularly the Agbekoya Vigilante. Eegunjobi was apprehended after allegedly posing as a passenger and then attacking the motorcyclist in the Mokola area of Ibadan. One accomplice remains at large.

As the investigation progresses, the police emphasize that the suspects are cooperating with authorities, providing critical information to apprehend additional associates.
