Kebbi Assembly resumes plenary after one month recess

Kebbi State House of Assembly resumed its plenary session on Wednesday after a one-month recess.
The recess, which began in July, was initially scheduled to conclude on August 11. However, legislative activities recommenced on August 19, under the leadership of Speaker Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoje.
The decision to suspend legislative activities was made following a motion put forth by Majority Leader Faruku Aliyu Nassarawa Jega and was seconded by Faruku Abubakar Maisudan, receiving unanimous support from the lawmakers.
In his remarks during the resumption, Dangoje congratulated members on completing their Lesser Hajj and encouraged them to remain dedicated to their legislative duties. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing the welfare of constituents and fostering unity among lawmakers to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
The Speaker also thanked Governor Nasir Idris for his ongoing support, noting that collaboration between the executive and legislative branches has been vital for the state’s development.
The resumed plenary is expected to address pending legislative matters and other important issues affecting residents of Kebbi State. During the recess, lawmakers were anticipated to engage with their constituents to identify concerns needing legislative attention upon their return.
