Breaking: Presidency names 108-man APC Presidential Campaign Council; Joseph Yobo in


The Presidency announced the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council on Saturday, with President Bola Tinubu appointed as the chairman.

In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the campaign council’s leadership includes Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General and Hope Uzodimma as Secretary. President Tinubu will serve as chair, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC Party Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda acting as vice chairmen.

Further roles within the council were also designated. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abass, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni will serve as deputy director-generals, responsible for southern and northern regions, respectively. They will collaborate with Senators Bamidele Opeyemi and Jibril Barau, who will oversee campaign activities in their respective zones.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a significant role in the previous campaign cycle, returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination, and monitoring. He will oversee zonal directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the Southwest and Dr. Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South.

The legal directorate will be led by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, with Dr. Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala serving as deputies. Other members include notable figures such as Prince Lateef Fagbemi and former Governor Ibrahim Shema.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, will coordinate media and strategic communication efforts, supported by Dele Alake and Onanuga, among others. Additionally, the campaign has appointed five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake.

In his remarks, President Tinubu urged council members to dedicate themselves to securing victory in the January 2027 elections. He emphasized the importance of showcasing the administration’s achievements and encouraging collaboration among various party members to foster a unified effort.

As the campaign season approaches, the President expressed confidence that highlighting the government’s progress would inspire hope among Nigerians. He urged members to combat any forces that threaten to reverse the country’s advancements.
