‘Join APC, align Oyo with centre’ – Tinubu’s minister tells Makinde

Minister Urges Oyo Governor to Join APC for Federal Alignment
Ogun State—Bello Muhammad Goronyo, the Minister of State for Works, has called on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Goronyo argues that joining the ruling party would enable Oyo State to align more closely with the Federal Government.
Goronyo made the appeal during the launch of the dualization of the Ibadan-Ijebu Road, an event attended by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who represented President Bola Tinubu. Makinde was absent from the ceremony as he pursues a presidential bid with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the run-up to the 2027 elections.
In his remarks, Goronyo praised Governor Abiodun for his commitment to infrastructure development in Ogun State and the surrounding areas. He stated that the APC-led government is making significant progress in enhancing regional infrastructure.
“The central train of development is moving fast under our progressive banner,” Goronyo noted.
He extended a personal invitation to Makinde, suggesting that joining the APC would facilitate a closer relationship between Oyo State and the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda led by President Tinubu.
“I therefore warmly welcome and openly invite His Excellency the Governor of Oyo State, Mr. Engineer Seyi Makinde, to take the natural giant step into the All Progressives Congress,” Goronyo stated. “Come and align Oyo State fully with the centre under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
As political dynamics shift in the country, Makinde continues to pursue his presidential ambitions with the APM while federal and state officials gathered for the dualization project expected to enhance connectivity between Ibadan and Ijebu.
Among those present at the event were Minister of Works Dave Umahi, the Olubadan of Ibadan Oba Rasheed Ladoja, Ogun State Deputy Governor Alhaja Noimat Salako, and APC governorship candidate Sharafdeen Abiodun Ali.
