Amotekun Corps foil kidnap operation, rescue woman, children in Ondo

Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network, commonly known as Amotekun Corps, successfully rescued a woman and her two children from kidnappers in the Isingbo-Osi area of Akure North Local Council Area, Ondo State.

Amotekun Commander Adetunji Adeleye announced the rescue, crediting a prompt distress call from the community that enabled a swift response by security personnel. According to Adeleye, the team arrived at the scene within five minutes of receiving the call.

Adeleye provided details while parading 10 suspects arrested for various offenses, including kidnapping, armed robbery, motorcycle theft, and church burglaries across the state. He highlighted the important role of collaboration with the Fulani community, which has facilitated the identification of some kidnappers among those apprehended.

During the parade, two individuals, identified as Joseph, 25, and Friday, 20, were accused of stealing and reselling stolen motorcycles, reportedly valued at N70,000 each.

In his assessment of the security situation in the state, Adeleye noted a decline in criminal activities, attributing this positive trend to the combined efforts of multiple security agencies. “There has been a drastic drop in criminal activities in the state, which is a credit to all security agencies working diligently to eliminate crime,” he said.
