Osun Accord Party Leader Raises Alarm Over Alleged Threats
Prof. Chris Imumolen, a factional leader of the Accord party, has expressed grave concerns regarding threats to his life purportedly made by supporters of Ademola Adeleke, the recently re-elected governor of Osun State.
Imumolen, who endorsed the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) just days before the governorship election, appealed for justice rather than conflict. He reported that recent events have heightened his fears for his safety and that of his family.
In a public statement, Imumolen urged Governor Adeleke to leverage his position to prevent any acts of intimidation or violence against him or his associates. “I seek no confrontation with Governor Adeleke or anyone else,” he said, emphasizing that his political activities aim to foster the development of the Accord Party and enhance democratic values in the state.
The Accord leader underscored his right to freely express political views without facing intimidation. He clarified that he has not authorized any associates to engage in violence or threats on his behalf, expressing a belief that political disputes should be settled through dialogue and lawful means.
To document his concerns formally, Imumolen stated that should any harm come to him or his family, he expects security and law enforcement officials to launch a thorough investigation into the matter to ascertain the facts and determine accountability.
In concluding his appeal, he called on Governor Adeleke, his supporters, and all political figures in Osun to prioritize peace and democratic engagement, reiterating, “I seek no war. I seek only justice, fairness, peace, and the freedom to pursue the development of Accord without intimidation or fear.”
