Bella’s lawyers reject Sheggz’s defamation suit, make fresh allegations

Lawyers representing former BBNaija contestant Bella Okagbue have dismissed defamation claims made by her ex-boyfriend Segun “Sheggz” Olusemo, intensifying the public dispute between the former reality TV stars.

In a letter dated August 24, 2026, Bella’s legal team characterized the allegations included in a cease-and-desist notice issued by Sheggz as “spurious and baseless.” They asserted that Bella’s comments on social media reflected her genuine feelings and experiences, arguing that they did not amount to defamatory statements harmful to Sheggz’s reputation.

Furthering their claims, Bella’s lawyers alleged that Sheggz failed to honor a promise to marry her and misrepresented his intentions throughout their relationship, actions they labeled as deceitful.

The legal representatives also accused Sheggz of obtaining multiple loans from Bella under false pretenses, stating they possess evidence to substantiate this claim and intend to pursue the matter in court.

The legal team rejected Sheggz’s demands for a retraction and apology, emphasizing that Bella has not made any false or defamatory statements regarding her former partner.

Additionally, Bella’s lawyers alleged that a member of Sheggz’s legal team has been contacting Bella through unsolicited messages and calls at inappropriate hours, warning them to cease this conduct.

This development follows ongoing public tensions between the two former BBNaija contestants.
