Tinubu: Effort to secure Trump’s support for re-election has failed – US firm
A United States-based policy advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has announced that the Nigerian Presidency’s efforts to gain the support of former President Donald Trump for Bola Tinubu’s re-election have been unsuccessful.
The firm made this statement on its verified X account on Tuesday. According to Von Batten-Montague-York, Tinubu’s special advisers have expressed dissatisfaction with the firm, alleging that it has undermined their reported $9 million lobbying campaign aimed at appealing to Trump.
The firm emphasized that a planned meeting between President Tinubu and Trump during the United Nations General Assembly is no longer expected to take place. “The effort to secure President Trump’s support for Tinubu has failed,” the firm stated. “The pushed White House meeting is not going to happen.”
Von Batten-Montague-York criticized the Nigerian government for its response to this setback, suggesting that instead of addressing the reality of their failed campaign, some officials have resorted to spreading false narratives about the firm and its founder, Dr. Von Batten.
The firm concluded, “You spent millions of dollars and countless hours trying to shape Washington’s perception of President Tinubu. If your response to failure is to invent false stories about our work, then you have learned nothing from that failure. We are just a lobbying firm. You are the Federal Government of Nigeria. Show some dignity when you lose.”
