Re-election: Tinubu lists economy, education, healthcare as priorities

Tinubu Promises Focus on Key Issues at APC Rally in Port Harcourt

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria — President Bola Tinubu vowed to prioritize education, economic recovery, healthcare, and citizen welfare if re-elected in 2027. He made this commitment during a campaign rally for the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday.

The event, co-hosted by the Rainbow Coalition led by Chief Nyesom Wike, also emphasized the importance of youth development. Tinubu called on residents of Rivers State to effectively utilize their Permanent Voter Cards to foster a more progressive Nigeria.

In his address, the president reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of retirees by ensuring timely payments of pensions and gratuities. He acknowledged the strong support from Rivers residents for his re-election campaign and praised Wike for his efforts in reconciliation and peace-building during recent political unrest in the state.

Tinubu expressed gratitude to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, commending his leadership and commitment to restoring peace in Rivers. “The governor will never regret his commitment to restoring peace in the state,” he said.

“I sincerely appreciate Wike, Fubara, APC members, and the Rainbow Coalition Campaign Council for their support,” he added.

Earlier, Wike assured Tinubu of Rivers residents’ substantial backing for his re-election, citing the president’s significant contributions to the state, including the appointment of nearly 47 Rivers individuals to key national positions. “We cannot take the president’s support for granted. Rivers people will vote massively for the president in the 2027 presidential election,” Wike stated.

Fubara also emphasized the state’s intention to deliver no fewer than three million votes for Tinubu. “We shall continue to work together to ensure that the president wins the election; that is our promise,” he said, thanking the campaign team for enabling Rivers residents to show their political support.

Additionally, Fubara thanked Tinubu for his commitment to developing the Niger Delta region, notably through infrastructure projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.

During his visit, Tinubu inaugurated the Bonny-Bodo Road project and presented the APC governorship flag to the party’s candidate in Rivers, Mr. Kingsley Chinda.
